Of The Importance of The Image You Create

Assalamualaikum.

I've been thinking about this.. in the context of Sending A Message Across The Society, is it more important to have more highly-influential people spreading it, or do we want a lot of people doing it? Which one is better so that the message goes through?

If we have more influential and effective people (lets call them the Category A people), they most probably have a higher ratio of people who actually get the message, compared to if less-influential people (and them Category B) do the same thing. And people who listen to the A-Category are most likely to accept the message and follow what they say. Because of the influence. But if a nobody (B-category) tells them something, there is a possibility that some of the people will argue and reject the ideals brought forth. (this is getting confusing)

So even if we have a lot of people spreading a message..if they don't have a personality that influences people, its quite redundant in a way..

The point is, they have to work on being someone with value also. If you wish to tell people something and you also wish to change them, who you are and what you worth, kinda plays a role. Its not enough to know how to put words into sentences but barely gain any interest from people to follow you..

For example, the probability that I would listen to a Ranked #1 Debater's advice would be higher than me listening to my Debate Teacher's advice.

Anyway, it goes on to the issue of influence. How to gain influence? Why is it important?

It varies, the type of people who have influence. I've seen some of the most radical persons who have influence and also the completely by-the-book, 'skema', people who have it.
Sometimes influence is sort of traditionally-acquired, I mean, a senior is always a bit influential towards his/her junior. a doctor is completely superior over a non-doctor (well, most of the non-doctors) , and a Principal over other teachers.

But for me, one thing that automatically interests me in a person, gives him/her a great first impression to me which gives that person respect at first sight, is his or her image and the way he/she conveys his/her ideals. I mean, the manner of how he/she does it. Like how they dress, or how they speak, or walk. haha.

Some people don't really care that much of how they look. They don't care if their Headscarfs aren't ironed. They're not ignorant, they just think, its up to people to judge them, but they would not change their image if people start talking.

But being well-dressed is quite important.

If you're a girl, dressing up is not all about wanting to seek attention and interest from men. Its essential to make sure you look pleasant to the eyes of people and deserving to be treated with respect. Its not entirely being girlish when you're well-dressed, its more to your efforts to look presentable so that you will be taken more seriously.

You don't need to look fake (tonnes of concealer or lipstick or fake eyelashes), you just need to look well, whatever you consider as, nice.. Its absolutely not that we want people to praise us or anything. its more to, we don't want them to think badly of us (and whatever label (ie SMIH) you're carrying - because, human tend to judge that far when they see you)

Even though there is a theory that beautiful people look nice in anything, but actually, if they are sloppy and shabby it still doesn't work really.

C'mon, you would respect someone who does well in looking good, right?

p/s: this is actually some sort of a repetition of what my naqibah told us yesterday. :)
